Over fifty years. That’s how long we’re proud to say that Reliable Home Improvement has been in business, initially starting out with fence construction and working out of the garage with 1 crew. Fast forward to 55 years later, and we’re proud to offer homeowners like you, high quality, award-winning remodeling projects brought to you by our professional team consisting of specialists in architecture, planning, designing, and building.
Founded, owned and operated by the Ducato family since 1967
Gil Ducato started the business going door to door selling fences. From there, he grew the business by providing great customer service and quality construction and it quickly became the largest fence company in Will County.
As Gil was building Reliable into the largest fence company in Will County, his wife Rosalie was running a kitchen and bath boutique called “Dream House” in Lockport, Illinois.
One day, as Gil was selling his fences door to door, he was asked by a prospective customer if he could complete a room addition project. Although he didn’t necessarily have the most experience doing this type of construction (to be exact, none), the bold, entrepreneurial spirit in him said, “SURE!” He talked to Rosalie and they decided to combine their businesses, hire a carpenter and an architect, and complete the room addition for their customer.
This was the first remodeling job completed by Reliable Home Improvement. The rest, as they say, is history.

The U.S. EPA requires that all firms and individuals performing any renovations, repairs, or painting projects in homes or buildings constructed before 1978 have to be certified by the EPA. This is crucial as we want to make sure the families that we work for on all of our projects are safe as our trained staff adheres to all construction safety best practices, and we’re certified by the EPA. Mike Ducato – Vice President of Sales
Mike Ducato has 30 years of experience with design, home improvement trends and solving design issues. Mike also works as a design consultant, assessing clients needs and wants and helps customers from concept to completion with home projects. He also visits job sites to assure quality control and coordinates with the Reliable Home Improvement design team members to ensure the best design is achieved.
Mike Strom – Production Manager
Mike Strom has 30 years of experience in all aspects of construction projects. He is our team problem solver with customer satisfaction at top of mind. As a liason between architects, traders and customers, Mike Strom schedules all jobs, maintains customer contact on constant basis, oversees all trades and handles all problems that may arise in the field. Mike Strom is our go-to person for all field operations.
Mike Campbell – Operations Manager
Mike Campbell has more than 40 years experience with residential remodeling, customer service as well as a vast amount of knowledge in sales and home design. We can count on Mike Campbell to handle procedure development, process management, ensuring a timely process for our customers and ensuring customer satisfaction.
This family atmosphere is prevalent throughout the company and, as the new generation takes over, we celebrate the past, work our best to enjoy the moment and provide our customers with great service and quality construction, and look forward to the future and another five decades of success!
