Dramatic Darks
One of the hottest trends for 2017 and going into 2018 is experimenting with color, especially shades of black. While the farmhouse whites aren’t going anywhere, shades of black are popping up on cabinets, tile, even the walls. This daring color can seem a bit daunting at first, but used in the right way can create a dramatic and elegant look to a space.
- In our showroom kitchen, we are mixing the dramatic effects of black cabinetry with a lighter flooring, gray & white backsplash, and a beautiful lighter countertop.
- This trend can extend to the bathroom as well. Here we provide a great contrast between the dark walls with the white tile floors to create an elegant statement.
Feature Flooring
Often overlooked is the opportunity to create interest in a room through flooring. From the type of flooring to the color, texture, and pattern, flooring can transform a traditional room to a complete showstopper.
- The herringbone pattern draws the eye across this bathroom vignette creating an easy flow throughout the entire space
- This barn wood-inspired, rustic flooring creates and interesting element of texture to the mudroom.
- Use flooring to define space. The patterned tile delineates the shower from the rest of the bathroom, while still keeping within the same color scheme.
Muted Mudroom
Mudrooms are increasingly becoming one of the most popular additions and remodeled rooms in the home. They provide a practical space when you first come into the house. Benches for putting on shoes and cubbies to keep everything organized are great uses of the entryway space.
- This mudroom provides ample storage with the muted gray cabinetry along with a great black bench to sit on while you take off your shoes
